DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Siena Height's cinderalla story isn't over yet. The Saints (33-24) survived and advanced in the 2012 NAIA National Championship Opening Round in Daytona Beach on Friday evening, eliminating Southern Poly (36-25) with an 8-4 victory. The Saints will take on second-seeded Auburn Montgomery tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. for the chance to advance to the title game of the Daytona Beach bracket.

The Hornets struck first with a run in the first on a solo homer from Jeremy Boyd, but the Saints answered back in the second with a run of their own. Answering back was the theme for the Saints throughout the entire game as the visitors on the scoreboard put up identical numbers to the Hornets every time SPSU scored, leading to a 4-4 tie entering the seventh inning.

SHU took their first lead of the game in he seventh, and they never looked back, chipping on two in the eight and one in the ninth to account for the 8-4 final.

Saints' starter Jake Sperry was impressive, tossing eight innings, allowing four runs on 11 hits, but he kept his team in the game, not allowing a run over the final four innings.
