LEWISTON, Idaho - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics released the 2012 Avista-NAIA World Series bracket on Monday evening, along with the official seedings of the 10 teams that will take part in the double-elimination tournament from May 25 - June 1 at Harris Field in Lewiston, Idaho. Embry-Riddle received the No. 5 seed in the event and will take on fourth-seeded Tennessee Wesleyan on Friday at 3 p.m. (PDT).
The Eagles and Bulldogs have squared off in seven contests all-time, with the Eagles holding a 6-1 advantage. ERAU and TWC were also paired up in the opening game of the 2010 World Series when the Eagles emerged with a thrilling, 3-2 victory in 12 innings. The Blue and Gold met up with the Bulldogs earlier this season on Jan. 29 in Montgomery, Ala., and again the Eagles were victorious, taking a 5-2 decision on a neutral field.
The Eagles (43-16) qualified for their 11th World Series in program history and their fifth consecutive final site, by sweeping through the Daytona Beach bracket this past weekend. ERAU holds a 17-20 all-time record in the World Series and is tied with Point Park (Pa.) for the third-most appearances at the World Series amongst the 10 qualifiers in 2012.
TWC (48-11) is making it's third straight trip to Lewiston after going 3-0 in the Kingsport bracket of the Opening Round. The Bulldogs are 0-4 all-time at the World Series.
