Six Eagles Earn Conference Athlete of the Week Awards

Six Eagles garner TSC Player of the Week honors
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Six Embry-Riddle student-athletes claimed Sun Conference weekly honors on Monday as announced by the league office. Deni Zmak (men's tennis), Kristina Marova (women's tennis), Breanna Goring (women's track), Evanna Ramirez (women's field), Vincent Bett (men's track) and Peter Benoit (men's field) each claimed their respective sport's award.

Zmak dropped just two games against fifth-ranked Loic Didavi of eighth-ranked Xavier, helping the Eagles to an 8-1 win. The freshman followed that up with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles against Northwestern Ohio the next day. In addition to scoring the clincher for the Eagles on back-to-back days, he teamed up with Chris Freeman for a pair of doubles wins to go undefeated on the week.

Marova won both of her singles contests last week, including a straight set win over No. 32 Brion Flowers of eighth-ranked Xavier. In two singles matches, Marova surrendered just three games, including a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles against Northwestern Ohio. She also won both doubles matches on the week.

Goring hit an “A” standard on her way to a top-five finish in the 100m hurdles (14.26) at the UNF North Florida Invitational. She also finished eight seconds shy of a “B” standard in the 100m (12.33).

Ramirez, a freshman from Ridge, N.Y., competed in both the long jump (4.43m) and the triple jump (10.20m) at the UNF Invitational, placing 31st and 17th, respectively.

Bett, a sophomore from Moi's Bridge, Kenya, won his second consecutive 3000m Steeplechase, defeating NCAA Division I competition in route to a "B" standard of 9:22.82, winning the event by 30 seconds. He also finsihed six seconds shy of a "B" standard in the 800m, placing 22nd.

Benoit, a sophomore from Milford, N.H., set a personal best mark of 53.30m in the javelin while finishing seventh at the NCAA Division I UNF North Florida Invitational.
