Huang, Marova, Montero Earn All-America Recognition

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's tennis team had three individuals recognized for their performances on the court throughout the 2013 season when the NAIA All-America teams were announced on Monday. Hui-I Huang was a first team selection, while Kristina Marova was named to the second team and Paola Montero garnered honorable mention recognition.

A freshman from Changhua, Taiwan, Huang posted a 16-11 overall singles record and a 19-11 doubles record in tandem with Marova. Ranked eighth in singles and sixth in doubles, Huang was named the ITA/NAIA Rookie of the Year and was a first team All-Sun Conference selection.

Monday's award was one of many for Marova (Star Sediste, Czech Republic) who closed out her junior season at 18-10 in singles. A first team All-Conference selection, courtesy of her 5-1 league record, Marova was awarded the 2013-14 Steve & Vicky Ridder and ERAU Champions of Character scholarships. She was also recognized for her achievements in the classroom as her 3.848 GPA in Business administration afforded her Academic All-Conference, NAIA All-America Scholar-Athlete and Capital One Academic All-District honors.

Montero (Maracay, Venezuela) ended her junior campaign at 10-7 in singles and was one of only two Eagles to earn perfect league records at 5-0, which placed her on the All-Conference first team. Montero partnered with Giovanna Tomiotto for a 12-10 doubles mark and the duo went 6-1 in conference play. 2013 marked Montero's first appearance on the All-America listing.

The Embry-Riddle women closed out the season with a 12-11 overall record. The Eagles finished as runner-up in The Sun Conference standings at 6-1 and advanced to the quarterfinal round of the NAIA National Tournament.
