LEWISTON, Idaho - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced that 266 baseball student-athletes have been named 2013 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes, including
Adam Cellini and
Chad Modomo of Embry-Riddle.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.
For Cellini, it marks the sixth academic honor the senior has earned over his three seasons in an Eagle uniform. The Marietta, Ga. native has been named an Academic All-Conference honoree twice and now a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete two times, in addition to his CoSIDA Academic All-District and third team Academic All-America accolades earlier this spring. He has a 3.8 GPA in Communications with a minor in Business Administration.
Modomo, the Eagle on the mound this afternoon for the Blue and Gold in its World Series contest against Lewis-Clark State College, earned the Scholar-Athlete honor for the first time in his two-year ERAU career after earning Academic All-Conference, CoSIDA Academic All-District and third team Capital One Academic All-American honors as a senior.
Cellini and Modomo's awards are the 24th and 25th in Embry-Riddle baseball history.
