Brooks Dominant in Concordia's 4-1 Win Over Lindsey Wilson

| By:
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Andrew Brooks drew his sixth start of 2013 and was dominant against third-seeded Lindsey Wilson on Thursday afternoon, powering second-seeded Concordia (Calif.) to a 4-1 win in the opening round of the Daytona Beach Bracket. Brooks allowed one run over 8.1 innings, scattering nine hits with five strikeouts. The Eagles move on to tomorrow's 2 p.m. winner's bracket final against the winner of Embry-Riddle/Ave Maria while the Blue Raiders will face elimination tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. against Martin Methodist.

The Eagles plated a run in the bottom of the first and never looked back, extending their advantage to 2-0 in the third before LWC got on the board with a single run in the fourth to cut the lead to 2-1.

Brooks never struggled after that point, rarely allowing the Blue Raiders to reach scoring position while solid defense behind him kept LWC from taking free bases.

CUI added an insurance run in the fifth and again in the seventh to go up 4-1 before Blake Harrison relieved Brooks with one out in the ninth, earning his third save of the year.

Cody Smith went 1-for-2 with a pair of RBIs and Ty Holm went 2-for-2 with two runs and an RBI on the day.
