LAKE WALES, Fla. - The No. 17 Embry-Riddle women's cross country team extended their Sun Conference title streak to seven straight in early November, claiming the crown with a six-point win over SCAD Savannah. Junior
Ellie Staker became just the third Eagle to earn conference Runner of the Year honors, thanks to her first-place time of 19:09.90.
Staker won her third individual title of 2012, finishing 19 seconds ahead of second-place finisher Hannah Lieberman of SCAD Savannah. Staker's Runner of the Year honor was the first for the Blue and Gold since
Alex Salinas won the crown in 2008.
Seniors
Karina Coelho and
Baleigh Hyatt finished third and sixth respectively in 19:33.12 and 20:52.85, while sophomore
Aleiyah Ross (9th - 21:40.28) and
Nicole Bonk (11th - 21:41.55) both scored for the Eagles.
The Eagles' 29 points mark the sixth straight season Embry-Riddle has totalled under 30 points at the conference meet. The Bees finished second with 35 points, while Sun Conference newcomer Southeastern placed third with 109 points. The University of South Carolina Beaufort (128) and Webber International (144) rounded out the top five.

Martina Tafoya (21:49.07),
Kira Ball (22:28.05),
Brittany King (23:04.43) and
Rebecca Love (23:11.39) also ran for the Blue and Gold.
Staker, Coelho and Hyatt all earned first team All-Sun Conference honors, the second time for both Staker and Hyatt and the third time for Coelho. Ross, Bonk, Eaton and Tafoya joined their teammates on the All-Conference roster as they earned second team honors.
