DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The magic of Sliwa Stadium once again favored the Embry-Riddle Eagles as the 15th-ranked team scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning, including the tying and winning runs on a walkoff error to complete an improbable comeback over Talladega, 7-6 on Monday afternoon. The Eagles (38-19) trailed 6-3 entering the bottom of the eighth, but were able to score once in the eighth and three times in the ninth to send the Tornadoes (39-19) to the loser's bracket where they will face off against fourth-seeded Tennessee Wesleyan at 10 a.m. on Tuesday in an elimination game. The Blue and Gold advance to Tuesday's 2 p.m. winner's bracket finale against the winner of top-seeded Southern Poly and fifth-seeded LSU Alexandria.

With two outs in the ninth and two runners on via walks, the Eagles got an RBI single from Liam Goodall to cut the lead to 6-5 and put runners on the corners. Talladega went to the bullpen for Bryan Lopez to face Jordan Johnson and on a 1-1 pitch, the senior from Daytona Beach grounded a hard ball to third base that was booted into left, allowing Kyle Buchanan to score from third to knot the score and as the left fielder slowly retrieved the ball, Assistant Coach Chuck Stegall was waiving Goodall all the way around third base to score the winning run.

The scoring started back in the second when the Tornadoes singled four times in the inning against Stetson Nelson, but the left-hander allowd just one run in the frame.

Matt Holland cruised through the first three innings without giving up an Eagle hit until Johson led off the fourth with a bloop single. Darryl Knight worked a walk before Kevin Lindheim took the first pitch from Holland in his at-bat off the scoreboard in left field for a three-run shot, giving ERAU a 3-1 lead.

A groundout in the TC fifth cut the lead to 3-2, but Nelson was able to keep the Eagles in front until the seventh inning. With runners at second and third with two outs, Nelson was relieved by David Lidyard who got two strikes on George Santiago before the TC first baseman singled to center to give his team a 4-3 lead.

Lidyard allowed two singles and hit a batter to load the bases with no outs as Ronnie Lozada was called upon to keep the Eagles in the game. Lozada looked as if he would get out of the inning by striking out the first two Tornadoes he faced, but again, TC had a two-out, two-RBI base hit, this time from Jean Marmol to extend Talladega's lead to 6-3.

Knight collected an RBI double in the eighth to bring home Johnson after he singled in the inning, but Marcos Dominguez was able to stem the tide, keeping the Eagles off the scoreboard until the Eagle rally in the last of the ninth.

Lozada (3-2) earned the win, two innings, allowing one hit. Nelson tossed 6.2 innings, giving up four runs on seven hits. ERAU was out-hit 11-6 as Lindheim drove in three runs with this two-run home run.
