DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The 15th-ranked Embry-Riddle Eagles (39-20) staved off elimination with a 7-2 win over Tennessee Wesleyan (35-24-1) on Wednesday afternoon. Clayton Wagner tossed 6.2 innings against the Bulldogs before giving away to David Lidyard who earned his first save of the year with 2.1 innings of relief. The Eagles advance to the championship game against Southern Poly at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, but will need two wins against the Hornets to secure a trip to the Avista-NAIA World Series.

Josh Clemen started for TWC and Darryl Knight greeted him with a two-run blast to left (his 12th of the year) to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead, an advantage that never surrendered.

After Wagner faced the minimum in the bottom of the first, J Rhet Montana scored on a Matt Jacobs single to left center before Knight collected an RBI fielder's choice for a 4-0 Eagle cushion.

Wagner allowed one TWC run to score in the bottom of the second inning, but followed with four consecutive scoreless frames as his team gave him a couple of more runs, one each in the fourth and sixth for a 6-2 advantage.

The Bulldogs managed to chase Wagner from the game in the seventh by scoring a run and putting two men on, but Lidyard entered and shut the Bulldogs down over the final 2.1 innings of the game to earn his first save of 2014.

Montana singled in an insurance run in the top of the ninth and Lindheim worked around a leadoff double and hit by pitch in the last of the ninth by getting a ground ball for the final out of the contest.
