Bryan Eliminates Southeastern, 4-2 in Opening Round

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Bryan (Tenn.) scored four runs in the first five innings and L.J. Rowden and Jose Hernandez held off Southeastern (Fla.), 4-2 to eliminate the Fire and send the Lions to tonight's elimination contest against top-seeded Auburn Montgomery (Ala.) at 6 p.m. SEU finishes the 2015 season at 38-21.

SEU struck first when Josiel Colon raced home on a Daniel Acevedo base hit in the top of the first, but Rowden buckled down and ended the inning before his offense responded with two runs in the home-half of the frame for a 2-1 lead. Chris Jeffries led off the inning with a base hit against Clay Rideout, scoring when Preston King tripled to deep center, and an errant throw allowed King to touch home for a 2-1 BC lead.

Bryan added a run in the third and a run in the fifth while Rowden kept the Fire offense off balance, rarely allowing a runner into scoring position until the sixth when SEU chipped a run off the lead, but Hernandez entered and would allow no more for the final 3.1 innings as he earned his third save of the season.

Rowden improved to 8-3 overlal in 5.2 innings while Rideout dropped to 8-3 in a complete game, eight-inning outing.
