LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced its All-Region teams on Thursday and a pair of Embry-Riddle Eagles were among the honorees. Freshman outfielder
Kailah Rain and sophomore catcher
Anna Battison were each named to the East Region Second Team, representing the second- and third-ever NFCA All-Region selections in program history, following
Sarah Huey's second team selection in 2014.
Rain was one of six Eagles to start all 46 games and led the team with 44 hits and seven sacrifice bunts while batting .328 with 20 runs scored and 16 RBIs. She was also 10-for-11 in stolen bases and proved to be a weapon in center field, gunning down eight baserunners which is already a program all-time record.
Battison started 32 games for Embry-Riddle before suffering a season-ending injury on April 2. Despite missing the final month of the season, Battison set the program's single-season record for stolen bases, going 22-for-22 on the basepaths. She also led the Eagles in batting average (.363) and on-base percentage (.458) and scored 20 runs. Battison also threw out 10-of-38 would-be base-stealers, the highest percentage in program history (26.3 percent).
