LAKELAND, Fla. - The Embry-Riddle women's golf team started its second tournament of the spring schedule today at the Lady Moc Classic as the Eagles are in 14th after two rounds of play, with
Megan Pollenz' second-round 69 highlighting the Eagles' opening day of play. The Grasslands Golf and Country Club is serving as the tournament course and Monday's play featured mid-80 degree temperatures and winds in the 10-15 mph range.
The Eagles bounced back from a 328 first round to shoot a 309 in the second, led by Pollenz' 69. Pollenz' second round score was just the second time an Eagle has ever broken 70 as she joins Carrie Rowe who shot a 68 at The Sun Conference Tournament in 2010. Pollenz' 80-69=149 puts her in a tie for 15th overall.
ERAU's 328 in round one put them 16th, but the bounce-back second pushed the Blue and Gold up two spots into 14th with a 328-309=637, in front of SSC foes Palm Beach Atlantic and Eckerd, along with Montevallo.
Natalie Brooks posted an 81-75=156, while
Erika Shellenberger went 82-85=167 and
Daniela Pena shot an 85-80=165 for the Blue and Gold. Catherine Yaun wrapped up Monday's play with a 93-90-183 score.
The Eagles will conclude the Lady Moc Classic tomorrow with a single round.
