Biography

Fall 2011: Enters the spring season ranked fifth in the ITA/NAIA singles poll…posted an 8-2 singles record in fall play…registered upsets of the No. 1, No.2 and No. 4 seeds to claim the USTA/ITA Florida Regional singles title…finished fifth at the USTA/ITA National Small College Championship…teamed up with Ekaterina Kamendova for a 5-1 record in doubles play…the duo’s only loss was to teammates Yi Ching Chen and Josefine Strom in the championship match of the ITA Florida Regional on Oct. 3 (3-6, 7-5, 7-10)…Frej Vitalle and Kamendova are ranked seventh in the ITA/NAIA national doubles preseason poll.

As A Junior in 2010-11: Second team All-America honoree…first team All-Conference selection…ITA All-America Scholar-Athlete…ranked No. 32 in the final ITA national poll of the year…tied for the team lead in singles wins (23)…played the majority of her singles contests at the No. 3 spot where she was 12-7…was 4-1 in league play…selected as the NAIA National Player of the Week on Mar. 30…garnered Sun Conference Player of the Week honors on Mar. 28…clinched the Eagles’ wins over St. Thomas (Mar. 4), Northwood (Mar. 23) and Indiana Wesleyan (May 18)…teamed up with three different partners for a 29-4 doubles record…was 24-2 in tandem with Ekaterina Kamendova…the duo closed out the year ranked 13th nationally…Frej Vitalle and Kamendova were 19-2 at No. 2 doubles and a perfect 5-0 at the top spot and in league play…they posted four shutouts on the year, including two at the NAIA National Tournament against Indiana Wesleyan (May) and Concordia (Calif.) (May 20). Fall 2010: Ranked No. 10 in the ITA/NAIA preseason singles poll…closed out the fall season with a 6-3 singles record…won three of her four matches at the ERAU Open (Sept. 17-19)…opened the USTA/ITA Florida Regional with a 7-6 (5), 7-6 (7) upset of No. 5 seed Theresa Schmaus of SCAD (Sept. 30)…easily dispatched Webber International’s Jeannette Hicks (6-0, 6-0) and Northwood’s Fiorella Moggia (6-0, 6-1) to advance to the regional semifinal where she upended top-seed Hillary Collins 6-3, 6-2 (Oct. 2)…took teammate Yi Ching Chen to three sets before falling 6-3, 4-6, 1-6 in the regional title match…teamed up with Landyn Scudder for a 4-2 doubles record…the duo won two matches in regional play to advance to the USTA/ITA Regional semifinals where they lost to the top-seeded duo of Collins and Magda Bresson 6-2, 6-2…Frej and Scudder were rated 14th in the ITA/NAIA preseason doubles poll.

At Boise State: Played two seasons for the Broncos…posted a 23-5 singles record and a 20-2 mark in doubles as a freshman…played the majority of the season at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles…earned ITA Scholar-Athlete and WAC All-Academic honors…went 14-4 in singles and 12-6 in doubles in her sophomore season…closed out her second year with the Broncos on a six-match winning streak…dropped a total of 10 sets during that streak, which included shutouts of Montana State’s Zori Fossum (Jan. 23, 2010) and Louisiana Tech’s Laura Rodriguez (Apr. 9, 2010).

Prep: Graduated from Marianistas High School…helped her team to five state championships…played for the Stadium Casablanca club team.

Personal: Born in Zaragoza, Spain on Apr. 27, 1990…parents are Francisco Frej Hellin and Isabel Vitallé Zaurin…majoring in Aerospace Engineering.
