JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The first day of competition at the River City Classic hosted by the University of North Florida featured a school record and an NCAA II provisional mark for the Embry-Riddle women's track and field team.
Ariana Anderson continued to rewrite the Embry-Riddle record books on Thursday. She finished second overall in the 5000m in a school record and personal best time of 17:15.50.
The 5000m also featured PRs for
Maylyn Wallace (19:35.00) and
Hailey Montgomery (19:44.40) who ran her first sub-20-minute 5000m race.
The Eagles also saw two PRs in the 200m dash with
Tanija Turner finishing in 27.54 and
Sydney Cash crossing in 29.78.
MacKenzie Keller ran her second-fastest (4:37.44) 1500m of the season to place second in that event which featured a personal best for
Ravyn Edge (5:02.36).
The Eagles went one-two in the javelin as
Sophia Gustely won the event with an NCAA II provisional mark of 42.23m (138-06) and Maxime Kirschner placed second with a throw of 38.80m (127-03).
The final event of the day yielded two more personal records.
Kelly Steffens bettered her 10000m time by nearly five minutes to finish in 38:29.12, while
Maggie Allen also turned in a PR of 39:18.75.
Competition at the River City Classic concludes on Friday.
