No. 5 Eagles Blank Warner Southern 3-0

LAKE WALES, Fla. ? The fifth-ranked Embry-Riddle men's soccer team tallied a goal in the first half and two in the second to post a 3-0 shutout of Florida Sun Conference foe Warner Southern on Tuesday. Freshman netminder Viktor Bergstrand collected four saves en route to his second clean sheet of the year as the Eagles improved to 10-5 overall and 5-3 in league play.

The Eagles got things started from the penalty spot in the first half. In the 29th minute, Richard Genge won the ball just outside the penalty area, but his attempt to move forward was halted when was brought down by a Royal defender inside the box. Joe Yoffe took the resulting penalty kick and slotted the ball into the lower left corner past WSC keeper Luis Rincon to put the Eagles up 1-0.

The Eagles extended the lead to 2-0 off the boot of Craig Oldis with 12 minutes remaining the second half. Oldis won the ball off the defender who was trying to get the ball of the Royal defensive third and exchanged a passes with Yoffe and tucked a shot under a diving Rincon to increase the lead to 2-0.

In the 88th minute, Peter Masters won the ball in the back and raced through the midfield. He launched a shot from about 35 yards out and for the second time in as many games, the Eagle got a goal courtesy of their opponent's defensive miscue, as the last Warner Southern defender slid into to try and stop Masters' shot, but deflected it into his own goal instead.

Rincon managed three saves for the Royals who fall to 6-10-1 (2-6 in the FSC).

The Eagles take a break from conference play when they travel to St. Augustine on Friday to take on former FSC rival Flagler. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
