BABSON PARK, Fla.--Freshman Lindsey Evans continued her strong run of play, netting a goal and an assist as the Embry-Riddle women's soccer team defeated Webber International University 4-1 on Wednesday afternoon.
The Eagles opened the scoring just 5:02 into the match, when scoring leader Kristen Phelps potted her eleventh goal of the season with the assist coming on a lovely through ball from Katrina Morgan. Phelps doubled the Eagles' lead in the 24th minute when Evans' pass found her and she put it past WIU goalie Elisa Sohn.
With five minutes left in the half, Jessica Garcia netted her seventh of the year with Valerie Rogers getting the assist.
The Eagles ran circles around the Warriors for much of the game, outshooting them 23-6, and were it not for 10 offsides, ERAU may have had more goals.
Evans, who has 19 points in her last six games, scored the Eagles' final goal seven minutes into the second half with an unassisted tally that deked Sohn out of position.
Stephanie Taylor and Brelyn Bingham split time in net - Taylor made two saves while Bingham made one. Sohn made 10 saves for Webber. The Warriors' Kristen Johnson wrecked the shutout bid with a goal four seconds before the final horn.
The Eagles will be at Northwood on Friday, in a game that will crown the Florida Sun Conference champion and top seed in the Region XIV tournament.
