Women's Soccer Falls in FSC Finale

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.--Embry-Riddle's chances of a Florida Sun Conference title fell with a 3-0 loss in a game that gave the FSC title to the Northwood Seahawks on Friday afternoon.

On a day filled with gusts of wind up to 25 miles per hour, the Eagles managed just three shots on NU goalie Adi Jurman.

The Seahawks opened the scoring on a fluke goal just 50 seconds into the game.  FSC leading scorer Lene Bjerkeli's shot appeared to clear the crossbar, but the wind knocked it down and right past Eagle goalie Stephanie Taylor.

Northwood salted the game away with goals seven minutes apart in the second half.  In the 58th minute, Katya Salguero rifled a shot from the left side to the far post past a diving Taylor.  Salguero added the final margin of victory in the 66th minute when, as Taylor charged forward to tackle Bjerkeli, the ball fell at Salguero's feet, and she rolled it into a wide open net.

Taylor finished with two saves, while Jurman made three.

Embry-Riddle (11-4, 3-2 FSC) concludes its season on Sunday with a 6 p.m. contest against NCAA Divsion I Stetson.  Northwood ended its season at 14-0, and will await seeding in the Region XIV tournament.
