Eagles Suffer First Loss of Season as SCAD Stages Second Half Comeback

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.--SCAD forward Melissa Feuerriegel scored in the 80th minute as SCAD completed a second half comeback to send the Embry-Riddle women's soccer team to it's first defeat of the season, a 3-2 setback on Friday evening at ERAU Soccer Stadium.

The Eagles opened the game brilliantly, controlling posession and going ahead 1-0 on a goal by senior Katrina Morgan.  Classmate Jessica Garcia deftly played a cross onto the foot of Morgan, who blasted it past SCAD goalie Lisa Gallant to put the Eagles ahead in the 25th minute.

Freshman Lindsey Evans doubled the Eagles' lead with just four minutes left before the halftime break, leaping to head in a corner from Chloe Cowart

In a very physical game, SCAD was called for 16 fouls compared to five for the Eagles, who outshot the Bees 18-6.

SCAD's first goal came off the foot of FSC leading scorer Kelly Quinn when the ball came out of a scrum and dropped right at her feet, leaving her only to put it past ERAU goalie Stephanie Taylor.  Substitute Lissa Evans drew the Bees even in the 75th minute when she pounced on a ball that Taylor dropped.  Feuerriegel netted the game winner with a blast past a leaping Taylor.

The Eagles drop to 8-1 over all and 1-1 in FSC play, while SCAD improves to 9-3 and 3-0 in conference.

The Eagles take a break from conference play and will head to Flagler on Wednesday, October 11.
