DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.--The Embry-Riddle University Women's soccer team used a goal in each half to record their second straight win to open the season, knocking off Florida Tech 2-0 on Sunday.

Freshman Lindsey Evans gave the Eagles the only goal they would need when she converted a penalty kick just five minutes into the game. ERAU earned the penalty when redshirt-freshman Sarah Hirst was taken down in the box.

The Eagles, who did not allow a shot on goal all game, doubled their lead with just 9:51 remaining in the game when freshman Kristen Phelps broke alone on FIT goalie Melanie Pyles and deposited a shot low and to the right for her third goal of the season.

"I thought we did better in the second half. We dug in and held on to our lead, and sometimes that's enough." said head coach Dan Blank.

The Eagles will next host Robert Morris College (Ill.) on Thursday, August 31.
