WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- The Embry-Riddle volleyball team went 2-2 on the weekend to finish third at the Palm Beach Atlantic University Bash at the Beach tournament Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles posted a 3-0 victory (30-23, 30-27, 30-16) against Southeastern University in the third-place match to improve to 8-9 overall on the year. Earlier in the day, ERAU fell 3-0 to host Palm Beach Atlantic (30-23, 30-22, 30-23).
Embry-Riddle was paced by Savannah Trakes in the win against Southeastern with 12 kills and 11 digs, while April Ebanks and Jenn Meglic finished with 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Jenni Nelsen added eight kills, but was all over the court claiming 17 digs in the match, while Rachel Ridder finished with 11 digs. Setter Marissa Gonzales registered 36 assists and Kristen Hassett added six helpers.
The Blue and Gold hit. 282 for the match in the win against Southeastern, but struggled offensively in the lost to PBA managing just a .011 hitting percentage. Ebanks was the kill leader in the PBA match with eight kills.
Emrby-Riddle returns to action on Tuesday when they travel to former league foe Flagler for a 7 p.m. match.
