ERAU-Flagler Volleyball Rivalry Still Strong Despite Saints' Move to NCAA DII; Flagler Sweeps Eagles 3-0

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- NCAA Division I transfer Justine Burkhardt recorded 15 kills and hit .481 for the match and junior Krista McAra added 11 kills and hit an amazing .733 for the contest to help lead the Flagler College women's volleyball team to a 3-0 victory against Embry-Riddle University (30-25, 30-21, 30-20).

Flagler (14-6) not only came out strong on the attack, but the Eagles struggled offensively hitting .051 in the first game. Despite their struggles, ERAU found themselves in striking distance down 25-21 in the first game, but just couldn't close the gap as the Saints closed out the game 30-25.

ERAU was without the services of sophomore outside hitter Jenni Nelsen who suffered an injury last weekend at the Palm Beach Atlantic University Tournament.

The Saints pulled ahead by 18-13 midway through the second game and ERAU's hitting woes continued converting at an .085 clip and could never string together enough points to cut into the deficit falling 30-21.

The final game saw the Eagles record just five kills, while Flagler hit .326 for the game and closed out the match 30-20.

Rachel Ridder led the way with nine digs, while the Eagles strong block was not there in tonight's contest managing only 3.0 total team blocks.
