DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.--Redshirt freshman Sarah Hirst (Port Orange, Fla.) scored the first goal of her collegiate career in the 31st minute for the game's only score as the Embry-Riddle Eagles defeated the Lady Barons of Brewton-Parker College 1-0 on Friday night.

As junior Valerie Rogers sent a cross into the box, Barons goalie Katherine Christian dropped the ball, and Hirst tapped it into a wide open net.

In a very physical, chippy game, the Eagles outshot the Lady Barons 24-0, and held an 11-0 advantage in shots on goal.  Jessica Garcia and Lindsey Evans both had numerous chances, but were stymied by Baron goalie Nelson, who finished with 10 saves.

For the Eagles, Stephanie Taylor and Brelyn Bingham split the halves in net, and neither was forced to make a save.

The Eagles open conference play on Sunday, October 1, hosting St. Thomas at 2 p.m.
