Vikings Defeat Eagles, 3-0

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Eagles soar through the air while Vikings navigate through the waters but for one night, the two met on the pitch of the ERAU Soccer Stadium.

Embry-Riddle (6-7) and Berry (9-4-2) played a women's soccer game on a beautiful Saturday evening in Daytona Beach with the Vikings coming out on top, 3-0.

The game winner was scored in the 10th minute as Berry's Laura Phyfer sent a shot to the back of the net off of a pass from Emily Bender.

The Lady Vikings extended their lead to two with just over five minutes remaining in the first half. Viktoria Frost sent a ball inside to Courtney Weber, who converted for the team's second goal of the game. Weber notched her sixth goal of the season in the 77th minute, giving Berry the 3-0 victory.

Dena Rozalsky did was she could to halt the Vikings' offensive attacks, as she had a huge block in the 32nd minute. Weber looked to capitalize on ERAU's keeper being wide to the left but Rozalsky came in and cleared the ball well beyond the 18-yard box. Rozalsky also ended a Berry fast break with just under five minutes remaining in the first half by stepping in front of the Lady Viking and sending the ball deep into Berry territory.

The Eagles' home schedule will culminate on Tuesday against FSC competitor Webber International (5-6, 1-3 FSC) at 7 p.m. Before the game begins, ERAU will honor its four senior members, as they will be playing their final regular season home game as an ERAU Eagle. Embry-Riddle encourages all fans to come out to ERAU Soccer Stadium and celebrate the careers Valerie Rogers, Stephanie Steele, Stephanie Taylor, and Sarah Valentine.
