Eagles Top Warner, 3-1

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Embry-Riddle Eagles stepped up the pace of their game on Friday, October 5, charting their second victory over Warner Southern College in the 2007 season, 3-1 (30-26, 28-30, 30-24, 30-22).

ERAU moves to 9-8 overall and 5-3 in the Florida Sun Conference. Warner suffers their sixth conference loss of the season with a record of 3-9, and 1-6 in the FSC.

The Eagles built a 13-6 lead in game one, hitting hard from the start, but were unable to keep their energy going as the Royals tied the game at 16 aided by two service aces by WSC's Shellie Barnwell. With the lead changing sides five times, the Eagles took a 20-19 lead and held on to capture game one. Janelle Marinos had eight kills in the first game, finishing with 14 on the night.

WSC pulled out a game two victory despite an ERAU five point lead late in the game. The Royals were able to capitalize on FSC leading attacker Nikisha Arrington's swing, as she charted two kills to tie the game at 28 and give WSC the push they needed to take the match. Arrington led the Royals with 17 kills and four service aces.

In game three, the Royals scored the first two points, but the Eagles came back taking the lead at 5-4 and held it for the rest of the game, winning 30-24.

The Royals took a 4-1 lead early in game four, but the Eagles marched forward with back-to-back kills from Savannah Trakes. Jenni Nelsen increased the Eagle lead to 23-17 serving three service aces in four attempts, and was followed by kills from Corey Dobridnia and Alana Martinez in the middle. The game was ended on a service error by the Royals, giving ERAU the match 30-22.

Trakes led the Eagles with 16 kills, 21 digs, one service ace and a block assist. Marrisa Gonzales charted 45 assists in the match, she also had 13 digs, three kills and two service aces. Nelsen marked six aces in the four game match. Martinez and Dobridnia had 12 and six kills respectively.
