ERAU Women's Soccer Ends Season at Home

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The #20 Embry-Riddle Eagles were defeated by the #13 Kansas Wesleyan Lady Coyotes by a score of 2-0 in the opening round of the 2007 NAIA Women's Soccer National Tournament on Wednesday.

Embry-Riddle (7-11) was relentless throughout the game as the Eagles had 15 shots to Lady Coyotes' 12 shots and had the corner kick advantage as well.

However, Kansas Wesleyan (21-1-1) was able to convert on two shots on goal in the final five minutes of the first half.

“I just walk away from this game being so incredibly proud of our girls, for the most part, this entire season,” said ERAU Head Coach Samantha Baggett. “With a lot of adversity, we have just gone out there and maximized our efforts and unfortunately tonight, it just seemed like there was a glass case around the goal. We hit the posts, they cleared one right off of the goal line that I thought for sure was in and the keeper made a couple of great saves. It's credit to Kansas Wesleyan because they found a way to win and I wish them the best of luck in the next round against Concordia.

“I am so incredibly proud of these girls and so proud to be their coach,” Baggett added. “We really appreciate our seniors ? Sarah Valentine, Stephanie Taylor, Valerie Rogers and Stephanie Steele ? for all they have done for this program.”

The game-winning goal was scored by Eliana Parada in the 42nd minute. Parada took the ball from just beyond midfield, created a one-versus-one situation with the ERAU keeper and knocked the ball in to the left.

Janna Macy scored the second Kansas Wesleyan goal off of a pass from Angela Padilla in the 43rd minute.

Kansas Wesleyan will face #4 Concordia (Ore.)(17-2-1) Thursday at 7 p.m.
