DeBord, Eagles Top College of the Bahamas 77-55

NASSAU, Bahamas ? The Embry-Riddle men's basketball team improved its 2007-08 record to 5-0 with a 77-55 win over the College of the Bahamas on Friday, marking the second time the Eagles have topped the Caribs this season.

Tyler DeBord led all scorers, matching his season-high 20 points and pulling down nine rebounds. Denver Cobb added 15 points, Danny Deaver had his best night on the boards this season with a game-high 13, and Eric Lorenzi turned in a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds on the night.

Gavin Lightbourne paced the Carib offense with 18 points, 10 of which came in the second half.

The Eagles got off to a slow start, turning the ball over on their first two possessions. They were finally able to get on the board at the 18:39 mark thanks to an offensive rebound and lay up by DeBord.

The Caribs took a 7-4 lead at 15:18, but the Eagles went on a 14-0 run to take over the lead and never looked back. Taking advantage of 24 makes in 30 attempts from the free throw line and DeBord's 14 first-half points, the Eagles surged to a 45-25 lead at the halftime break.

The Eagles continued to dominate in the second half as the offense shot 41.4 percent from the field, while the defense held the Caribs to just 24.1 percent to seal the win.

Friday's contest was the third in a four-game road swing for the Eagles who close out the road trip on Tuesday night in Temple Terrace against Florida College.

The Eagles return to the ICI Center on Friday, November 30 to host the Daytona Mitsubishi Shootout. ERAU will take the floor at 8 p.m. against Graceland (Iowa) following the 6 p.m. match-up between Brewton-Parker (Ga.) and Carroll (Mont.).
