DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. ? The Embry-Riddle women's tennis team suffered its second straight loss as No. 21 Rollins took an 8-1 win, Wednesday at Embry-Riddle's Crotty Tennis Complex. The win improved the Tars to 4-0 while Eagles fell to 3-4 on the year.
The Tars took the lead after registering a pair of wins in doubles play. Tasi Purcell and Mahler downed Natalie Anaya and Lindsey Kurtz 8-0, while Silvia Frandji and Anastasyia Schevchenko topped Marga Rico-Jimenez and Anna Haller 8-3.
The Eagle duo of Kerinn Meisenbach and Hana Im improved their dual match doubles record to 5-3 after defeating the Rollins duo of Sonia Bernal and Allison Arof 8-4 at the No. 2 spot.
Rollins clinched the match at No. 1 singles when Purcell held off Im 6-4, 6-4.
The Eagles will face another NCAA II opponent at 10 a.m. on Saturday when they host No. 6 Barry at the Crotty Tennis Complex.
