DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Head Coach Joslynn Gallop collected her 50th win at Embry-Riddle as the volleyball team (8-5, 4-1 FSC) allowed just 28 points in a three game match against the Edward Waters Tigers (0-6, 0-6 FSC) on September 26. The game was held at the ICI Center.
The Eagles hit .410 in the three-game match, the fifth best percentage in a game since the beginning of the program. In game one, the Eagles held the Tigers to six points, three of EWC's points coming from ERAU errors. Embry-Riddle had eight service aces in game one and hit .500, completing 16 attacks in 32 attempts.
In game two, the Eagles marked six service aces and had 13 kills to keep the momentum in their favor, winning 30-10. ERAU closed out the victory with a win in game three, 30-12. All of the volleyball players touched the ball in the match, it was the first time this season.
Junior Marissa Gonzales notched her 500th assist of the season in game one, ending the night with 23 (2,971 overall). She also had three aces and three kills. Alana Martinez led the team in kills and service aces with nine and five respectively. Of the 16 service aces, four athletes had two (Lauren Anastase, Jenni Nelsen, Savannah Trakes and Janelle Marinos).
The Eagles will return to action on Friday, September 28, hosting Palm Beach Atlantic at 7:00 p.m., in the ICI Center. The teams last saw each other on August 28, where the Sailfish won in three games.
