MIAMI, Fla. ? The Embry-Riddle men's and women's tennis teams each recorded shutouts against St. Thomas in the teams' Florida Sun Conference opener on Saturday. The Eagle men easily dispatched their Bobcat counterparts 9-0, while the Bobcat women forfeited three matches, giving the Eagles a 9-0 victory.
On the women's side the Eagles, dropped only one game in the five matches played as Natasa Zoricic defeated Natalia Ramirez 8-0, Hana Im topped Adriana Montilla 6-0, 6-0 and Lindsey Kurtz downed Hollis Hunt 8-0. The Bobcats only point came in Zoricic and Im's 8-1 win over Ramirez and Montilla at No. 1 doubles. Anaya and Kurtz closed out the scoring for the women with an 8-0 doubles win over Hunt and Henry.
The men also won their three doubles points easily. The closest singles match was at the No. position where Konstantin Lazarov evened his record at 1-1 with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Jeremy Bache. In each of the remaining singles matches, the Eagle player recorded a shutout in at least on set to seal the win.
Both teams return to the court at 10 a.m. on Sunday in another conference contest against Northwood.
