LAKELAND, Fla. - The Embry-Riddle women's soccer team got their 10th win of the season Thursday night as they were able to outscore the Southeastern Fire 4-3. The Eagles moved to 10-5 (7-1) while the Fire fell to 12-4 (4-4).
The Eagles scored back-to-back goals in the 11th minute to take a quick 2-0 lead. Freshman Krizzy Menez was the beneficiary of two good passes from Elina Johansson and Hanna Lundqvist to net her first career goal to start the scoring for the Blue and Gold.
Lundqvist then took advantage of another pass from Johansson to score her 11th goal of the season to notch the 2-0 lead.
Southeastern's Melissa Kennedy beat several Eagle defenders and keeper Lauren Gallant for the Fire's first goal of the game in the 30th minute to cut the deficit to 2-1. The Eagles took that same score into halftime.
ERAU looked to increase their lead in the second half as senior Lindsey Evans headed in her fourth goal of the season with Johansson credited with her third assist of the game.
Southeastern answered with a goal of their own in the 81st minute before Cecilie Henriksen knocked in a score a minute later for the 4-2 lead.
The Fire added a final goal with eight seconds left to account for the 4-3 final.
The Eagles out shot the Fire 23-7, as well as earning more corners, 4-1.
Embry-Riddle will travel to Ave Maria, Fla. on Saturday to take on the Gyrenes as they wrap-up their Sun Conference schedule. Game time is set for 5 p.m.
