Eagles Volleyball Takes Lions in Three

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. --The Eagles picked up their 13th win of the season over the Lions of Florida Memorial Saturday afternoon at the ICI Center in three sets (25-10, 25-13, 25-11). Their overall record now stands at 13-4, while they remain unbeaten in conference play with a 10-0 record.

The Eagles' saw dominant play from outside hitter Lauren Anastase in set one, as the junior racked up five kills in only seven attempts while Savannah Trakes, Jordan Holcomb, and Gloria Kemp tallied three kills a piece to aid in the Eagles' offensive play. The team combined for a .448 hitting percentage and landed on top at the end of the first set, 25-10.

Senior Kristen Hassett started at the setter position in set two, recording six assists in her first appearance back wearing the Blue and Gold, after sitting out the first 17 matches of the year with a shoulder injury. Hannah Rasmussen saw time as the Eagles' libero and picked up four digs for the defense. ERAU closed out set two, topping the Lions, 25-13.

Set three saw the Eagles hitting percentage soar to .545, as the offense notched 14 kills and only two hitting errors in 22 attempts. The Lions were unable to defend the front row intensity, and the Eagles took home the set and match, 25-11. 

Trakes led all hitters with eight kills, while Anastase and Kemp marked seven a piece. Hassett finished the match with 14 assists and two service aces.

The Eagles will be back in action this Wednesday as they head to Southeastern to play the Fire in a conference match-up. The Blue and Gold will then suit up for an intense weekend of conference action, as they play host to Northwood and Ave Maria on Friday and Saturday, in hopes of remaining undefeated in The Sun Conference.
