LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle volleyball team
continued its dominant league play Wednesday night on the road, defeating
conference newcomers Southeastern in three (25-18, 25-17, 25-14).
The Eagles outhit the Fire in set one, hitting .273 compared
to Southeastern's -.160. Outside hitter
Abby Hall played strong offensively, tallying five of the team's ten total
kills. The Eagles were able to pull away with the win after a Fire attack error
put the Eagles at 25 on the scoreboard.
Gloria Kemp and Julia Frassetto led the Eagles on the
defensive end in set two, as Kemp totaled four blocks and Frassetto picked up
seven digs. Jordan Holcomb connected on
four of seven sets from Adriana Vazquez and served ten straight points for the
Eagles, to put ERAU up 23-16. A kill from Kemp and a Fire attack error secured
the second set win for the Blue and Gold.
The third and final set of the match saw Holcomb at the
service line for eight straight serves, which guided the Eagles to a 25-14
victory over the Fire.
Hall ended the night with 11 kills and two service aces.
Holcomb added eight kills and four blocks, while Kemp totaled seven blocks and
four kills for the Eagles. Frassetto tallied 14 digs for the defense and
Vazquez and Kristen Hassett combined for 25 assists in the three-set match.
The Eagles host conference opponents Northwood and Ave Maria
this Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and 2 p.m., respectively. They will look to
defend their perfect 11-0 conference record.
