Embry-Riddle Blasts Flagler, 105-81

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Embry-Riddle men's basketball team outpaced the Flagler Saints on Wednesday night in the ICI Center in perhaps the final game of the storied rivlary. The Eagles won their sixth game of the year to just three losses as the Saints fell to 1-3. The Eagles grabbed their 30th win of the series compared to Flagler's 17.

The Eagles started the game with two Eric Lorenzi free throws before Flagler answered with a layup by Chad July. The two teams went back and forth for the majority of the first period as neither team could open up a sizable lead. The score was tied four times and the lead changed six times during the first half.

It wasn't until the 5:22 mark in the first half that ERAU took the lead for good, 31-30, after a three-point shot from Blake Touchard. The Eagles finished the half on a 20-5 run to take the lead into halftime, 48-35.

Lorenzi scored 12 points in the first half, followed closely by Touchard with 11. Flagler's John Pietkiewicz had eight first-half points for the visitors.

The Blue and Gold never relinquished the lead the rest of the game as the Saints never came closer than nine in the second period.

Embry-Riddle's largest lead was at the 4:48 mark as a Lorenzi three-pointer gave the hosts a 92-62 lead.

David Butler lead all scorers with 24 points as he grabbed 15 rebounds coming off the bench. Lorenzi chipped in 15 points with four assists for ERAU. Touchard (14), Ray Graham (12) and Glenn Dalcourt (12) all scored in double-digits.

Cody Shuffler led the Saints with 14 points and four rebounds.

The 24-point margin was the largest for the rivalry since January of 2001.

ERAU will travel to Southeastern on Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. to take on the Fire.
