Eagles Down Bison 7-2

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. ? The Embry-Riddle women's tennis team put another notch in the win column with a 7-2 victory over No. 23 Oklahoma Baptist on Wednesday, improving their overall record to 5-6, while the Bison fall to 5-4.

Embry-Riddle's Marga Rico Jimenez and Sara Abraul were the first to finish their doubles match as they easily downed the Bison team of Katie Halbeselben 8-1. The Bison quickly evened the score as Paola Cost and Samantha Attard topped Natasa Zoricic and Hana Im 8-4 at No. 1 doubles.  But the Embry-Riddle tandem of Mathilda Engstrom and Julija Stojkovska broke the tie with an 8-4 victory over Camber Robinett and Brooke Mowery at No. 2 doubles to give the Eagles a 2-1 edge heading into the singles matches.

Stojkovska wasted little time in earning her fourth singles win of the year as she blanked Halbeselben 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 3 spot. Im was close behind with a 6-3, 6-1 decision against Attard at No. 2 and Rico Jimenez, in her first match at No. 4 singles, was credited with the clinching point after downing Robinett 6-3, 6-2.

Abraul registered a quick 6-2, 6-2 win against Mowery at No. 5 and Engstrom notched her first singles win of the year with a 6-3, 6-0 defeat of Alexander at the sixth position.
