Eagles Soar Over Tigers, Remain Unbeaten in Conference

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Eagles picked up another conference win Saturday afternoon, defeating the Edward Waters Tigers in three sets, moving their conference record to a perfect 8-0.

Adriana Vazquez served the Eagles to a 6-0 lead in set one, notching two service aces, but an Eagle attack error put the first Tiger point on the scoreboard at 6-1. ERAU maintained a steady advantage over the Tigers throughout the set and Gloria Kemp guided the Eagles past EWC, 25-10, as she went five-for-seven and hit .429 for the set.

The Eagles hit .321 in set two totaling 11 kills in 28 attempts, led by Lauren Anastase's three kills. Hannah Rasmussen started as the Eagles' libero and picked up seven digs on the defensive end. ERAU closed out the set, 25-9, after a Rebecca Heller kill from Vazquez.

Set three was the closest set of the match, as the Tigers put up 13 points, but the Eagles were too much to handle, as they closed out the set 25-13. The Eagles' Julia Frassetto notched back-to-back kills on the outside in the final three points of the match, while Abby Hall drilled a ball down the line to put the Eagles at 25 on the scoreboard.

Anastase led the Eagles' offense with seven kills, while Hall, Kemp, and Savannah Trakes contributed six apiece. Samantha Savallo saw ample time on the court wearing the libero jersey for the Eagles, picking up 11 digs in two sets, while Rasmussen and Frassetto split time as the libero in sets one and two, totaling 12 digs.

The Eagles will return to Daytona Beach, Fla. to host conference opponents St. Thomas and Florida Memorial on Friday and Saturday in the comfy confines of the ICI Center. Game times are slated for 7 p.m. on Friday and 2 p.m. on Saturday.
