No. 3 Embry-Riddle Downs No. 20 Oklahoma Baptist 6-3

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's tennis team (9-5), ranked third the latest NAIA poll, earned two doubles and four singles victories to down No. 20 Oklahoma Baptist 6-3 in non-conference action, Saturday at the Crotty Tennis Complex.

The 11th-ranked Embry-Riddle pair of Natasa Zoricic and Yi Ching Chen had little trouble getting by Paola Costa and Lilian Ferreira, downing the OBU tandem 8-1 at No. 1 doubles. Caroline Nilsson teamed up with Josefine Strom for the first time this season and that partnership registered an 8-1 victory over Katie Halbeselben and Diana Burns at No. 2 to put ERAU up 2-0. The Bison got a point back when Camber Robinett and Mariana Rosa held of Sara Abraul and Landyn Scudder 8-6 at the third doubles spot.

Chen added another point to the Eagle tally with a 6-2, 6-1 defeat of Ferreira at No. 2 singles and Abraul extended the advantage to 4-1 with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Halbeselben at No. 5. Strom scored the clincher after downing Rosa 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4 and Nilsson closed out the Eagle scoring by besting Robinett 7-6, 6-2 at No. 3.

The next match off the court was at No. 1 singles where No. 34 Costa upended No. 14 Zoricic 7-6 (5), 6-4. The Bison got their third point from Burns who pulled out a three-set (2-6, 6-4, 10-6) win over Scudder at No. 6.

The Eagles' next match will be at 11:30 a.m. on Monday when they travel to Sanford, Fla. to face South Carolina State.
