MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Embry-Riddle women's soccer team left the Capital City Classic hosted by Auburn Montgomery with a 2-0 record after pulling out a 2-1 double overtime win over Mobile on Saturday. The Eagles, currently ranked 24th in the NAIA national poll, improved their overall record to 3-1 while the Rams drop to 2-2-1 on the year.

The Lady Rams held a decisive 17-6 advantage in shots for the game, but shots-on-goal margin was much closer with Mobile holding a 7-4 edge. The Eagles had a chance to take the lead in the 35th minute when senior Elina Johansson was brought down inside the box, but Johansson was unable to convert on the penalty attempt resulting in a scoreless deadlock at the half.
   
Both teams came out looking for the go-ahead goal in the second period and it was the Eagles who found the back of the net first. Martine Olsen collected a pass from Madeline Edbom and Olsen's shot from 25 yards out found the mark, giving the Blue and Gold a 1-0 advantage.

The Embry-Riddle lead was short-lived as Christy LaChappelle tied things up from the penalty spot just three minutes later.

The remaining 35 minutes of regulation yielded scoring opportunities for both sides, but neither team was able to capitalize, sending the game into overtime.

The first overtime period saw no change in the score, but just 2:18 into the second overtime, Olsen struck again. The Eagles drew a foul just outside the penalty area and once again, the freshman proved deadly from long range, burying the free kick to give the Eagles the win. Olsen wrapped up the two-game road trip with three goals, including both game-winners.

Dina Roper went the distance for the Eagles in the nets, hauling in six saves in her first start of the year. Lorna Brownie had two saves for Mobile.

Embry-Riddle's next match will be at 7 p.m. on Wednesday when they host Flagler at the Embry-Riddle Soccer Stadium.
