WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Palm Beach Atlantic's Mikhail Cazenave had the Embry-Riddle baseball team's number on Friday night, dealing the Eagles a 3-0 loss in a complete game effort. The Eagles (6-8, 0-4) managed just four hits against Cazenave, all singles, while striking out 10 times.

Cody Crouse was nearly as good as his PBA counterpart, matching zeros with Cazenave through the first five innings.

The only real threat from either team early on came in the fourth when the Eagles put runners on first and third with one out, but Cazenave struck out Justin Franklin before Alex Dodd was robbed of an RBI base hit by center fielder Mike Santaromita on a nice sliding catch in right center.

The Sailfish did all their damage in the sixth on back-to-back one-out triples to take a 1-0 lead, followed by an RBI double and an outfield error that made it 3-0 in favor of the home team.

The Eagles were almost able to answer in the top of the seventh after Dodd reached third after walking and a Jackson McFarland single and PBA error put him at second with just one out. However, Cazenave posted two straight strikeouts to end the threat and keep PBA in front.

Crouse, Aidan Brady and Dominic Jeancola combined to keep the Sailfish scoreless in the eighth, but the Eagles went quietly in the top of the ninth, suffering their first shutout since March 18 of last season.

The Eagles and Sailfish meet up tomorrow, Saturday, March 3 for a twin bill beginning at 12 p.m.
