Marsh and Goodall Lead @ERAUBaseball to 7-1 Win Over Auburn Montgomery

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Kyle Marsh drove in four runs while Garrett Goodall had one of the best outings of his young career on the bump as the Embry-Riddle baseball team cruised past Auburn Montgomery on Thursday night at Sliwa Stadium, 7-1. The Eagles (13-9) won their 10th straight at home and improved to 16-6 all-time against the Warhawks (13-10), scoring five runs early and letting Goodall do the rest as the sophomore struck out a career-high nine AUM batters.

Goodall went quickly through the top of the order in the first and Marsh hammered a two-run homer in the bottom of the inning to give the Eagles a lead they never gave up. Another 1-2-3 frame from Goodall in the second led to a three-run inning for the Eagles in the home-half as ERAU used four walks and a Kyle Guttveg single to go up 5-0. Marsh collected his third RBI with a sacrifice fly during the inning as well.

Goodall allowed his first baserunner in the third on a weak ground ball down the third base line, but got three outs quickly after as the game moved to the bottom of the fourth with the same score.

Marsh tripled home Cody Forster in the last of the fourth for his fourth RBI of the night, and the Eagles got their final tally in the fifth when Mike Lawson plated Zach Howard from third with a sac fly for a 7-0 Eagle lead.

AUM got its lone run in the seventh, an unearned score to make it 7-1, but Goodall got out of the inning without further damage before Cato Sinkus tossed a scoreless eighth and David Romanowski worked around a leadoff baserunner in the ninth to close the door on the Warhawks.

Goodall (3-0) allowed one unearned run with nine strikeouts in his seven innings of work, while Marsh finished 2-for-3 with four RBIs and Luis Olivier registered a 3-for-3 contest at the dish. Kirk Sidwell saw his 13-game hitting streak snapped in the victory.

ERAU takes on Northwood (Mich.) tomorrow night at 6 p.m. at Sliwa Stadium after the Timberwolves and Warhawks play a game at 1 p.m. on ERAU's home field.
