@ERAUBaseball Finalizes Friday Series Opener Over Felician, 12-1

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - A seven-run first inning propelled the Embry-Riddle baseball team to a dominant 12-1 win over Felician on Friday night to open up the two teams' weekend series. The Eagles (14-5) gave Garrett Goodall more than enough runs to work with as he, along with Dylan Buzbee and Kyle Miller, had little issue with the Golden Falcons (1-6) en route to the 11-run victory.

Every Eagle in the starting lineup reached base on Friday, but it was the visitors who actually struck first, going up 1-0 against Goodall in the top of the first inning. But the deficit wouldn't last long for ERAU, starting when the Eagles loaded the bases with one out and a crucial defensive miscue allowed Mike Lawson to score on a Josh Reynolds ground ball to tie the game. John Devine delivered the game-winning hit in the next at-bat, singling through the right side to score two Eagles before Eric Feliz brought in two more with a base hit up the middle. Cody Forster collected his first triple of the season to make it 6-1, and then scored himself on a wild pitch as ERAU put the finishes touches on a seven-run frame.

Goodall faced the minimum in the second, the first of six innings the junior went 1-2-3, and ERAU added a run when Andrew Martinez doubled home Lawson in the bottom of the inning.

The score remained 8-1 until the last of the seventh when Reynolds opened the frame with a massive home run to left, into the teeth of a hefty wind, giving ERAU a 9-1 lead. Later in the inning, Forster singled to right to score two more runs for the Blue and Gold.

Goodall got two outs in the eighth before being relieved by Buzbee with two men on base, and Buzbee threw all of one pitch to get the final out of the inning, inducing a weak pop up to right.

Feliz's RBI single in the bottom of the eighth scored Chris Schoeller for the Eagles' 12th run of the game and Kyle Miller registered three strikeouts in the ninth to seal the win.

Goodall (W, 4-2) struck out 10 Falcons, allowing one run on five hits, while Forster and Feliz each had three hits and three RBIs. Devine posted a pair of RBIs, and Lawson, Martinez and Reynolds all had two hits.

The Eagles and Falcons get together tomorrow, March 7 for a twin bill starting at 2 p.m.

Notes
• Reynolds hit his first career home run on Wednesday in Auburndale...he doubled his career total with his first homer at Sliwa on Friday night
• The Eagles are 5-0 when homering
• ERAU walked (5) more times than it struck out (4), marking the seventh game of 2020 that has happened
