Daytona Beach, Fla. - The Embry-Riddle Men's Soccer team secured their first win of 2023, as the Eagles (1-0-1) defeated the Spring Hill Badgers (1-3-0) by a score of 4-2.
Jacob Callahan opened the scoring in the 32nd minute, slotting his third goal of the season past the Spring Hill goalkeeper.
Less than two minutes later, Spring Hill equalized on a free kick.
Nine minutes after the halftime break, Callahan scored again, marking the second time in his first two collegiate games that the Lake St. Louis native scored twice in one game.
Konstantin Kosoric doubled ERAU's lead in the 60th minute, as his strike rifled into the top left corner of the goal.
Then in the 75th minute,
Gabriel Mentrup also scored his first Embry-Riddle goal, making it 4-1.
A last-minute free kick from Spring Hill made it 4-2, which was the final score 4-2, the second consecutive game the Eagles scored four goal. This was the first time ERAU had accomplished such a feat since 2014.
Ferriol Caballe i Vila (1-0-1) made two saves in goal, while ERAU had 20 shots in total.
Embry-Riddle opens up Sunshine State Conference play on Saturday, Sept. 16, facing the Eckerd Tritons in St. Petersburg, Florida at Johnson Field at 7 p.m.
