Women’s Soccer Stays Unbeaten with 3-1 Win Over Lynn

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – RV Embry-Riddle Women's Soccer scored three unanswered goals against Lynn on Wednesday evening, moving into 1st place in the SSC standings. The Eagles were tied 1-1 with the Fighting Knights at halftime, before a goal in the first minute of the second half put ERAU in front for good. Olivia Gallo added an insurance goal in the 57th minute, with the Eagles holding that two-goal lead for the remainder of the game.

  • Embry-Riddle now leads the all-time series 9-2-2.
  • The Eagles are unbeaten since 2017 against the Fighting Knights, outscoring Lynn 10-4. 
  • ERAU has won five consecutive games at ERAU Soccer Stadium versus Lynn.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Embry-Riddle dominated the opening stages of the game against Lynn, seeing a lot of the ball and creating multiple chances. Overall, the Eagles had nine shots and 67% possession in the first half.
  • However, it was the Fighting Knights who scored first, when Juliana Torres capitalized on a giveaway, and put Lynn in front 1-0 in the 23rd minute.
  • Less than five minutes later, ERAU made their control count when Kaitlyn Kogl scored her first goal of the season. A corner kick that was flicked on at the near post by Ida Zetterberg was then tapped in by Kogl.
  • Just 39 seconds after halftime, Zetterberg put the Blue and Gold in front for their first time. The Eagles quickly won possession and moved up the field in a hurry, with Anna Marisa Lara providing the assist, her second of the season.
  • Olivia Gallo caused more trouble on another set piece, as she scored her first career goal with an outrageous shot from nearly midfield on a free kick in the 57th minute. Gallo's shot floated over 40 yards before nestling in to the top corner, past the outstretched hand of Emma Brunelli.
  • ERAU continued to pile on the pressure against Lynn, forcing five saves from Brunelli in the final 30 minutes of the night.

INSIDE THE STATS
  • Embry-Riddle has used the same starting lineup for each game this season.
  • Gallo now leads the team in assists (3), after providing the secondary assist from the corner in ERAU's first goal of the night.
  • Along with Gallo's first career goal, Kogl scored her first goal since 2022.
  • The Eagles' three goals were the most they have scored in a game this season.
  • Embry-Riddle outshot Lynn 17-4 and put eight shots on goal, forcing five saves from Brunelli.

UP NEXT
ERAU will travel down to Miami for their next matchup on Saturday night. The Eagles will take on the Buccaneers of Barry University on Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. Barry has tied each of their first three SSC matches, and has not given up a goal in over three weeks.
