Men's Soccer Picks up Their First Win in an Electric Home-Opener

Embry-Riddle dominated Spring Hill College 4-2 during their home opener

DAYTONA BEACH, FL – Embry-Riddle Men's Soccer (1-2) took to the pitch on Friday night for their first battle at home against Spring Hill College (0-1). The Eagles battled the elements with grace as they secured their first win of the season.

"It was great to finally play at home in front of our fans, who definitely helped create a great atmosphere for the players…Spring Hill made it difficult for us at times, but it's always great to get four goals in any match," said Head Coach David Gregson

  • Embry-Riddle grabbed the lead early in the contest with Tom Shepherd finding the back of the net in the seventh minute off the pass from Zacharia Hasler
  • The Eagles extended their lead to two in the 18th minute with a shot off the foot of Kaden Stoddard, and Matteo Moreno Madrid giving him the assist
  • Spring Hill's Jack Ambrose put the Badgers on the scoreboard in the 27th minute, to cut Embry-Riddle's lead in half
  • The Badgers amped up the pressure with Luciano Injoque netting the tying goal with less than a minute left in the first period
  • The Eagles quickly reestablished their lead in the second period with a goal from Lukas Bludau in the 46th minute, assisted by Moreno Madrid and Hasler
  • Shepherd netted a penalty goal in the 77th minute, his second goal of the game, to secure the 4-2 victory for Embry-Riddle
