Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Embry-Riddle falls to GSW in season opener

The Eagles fall 0-1 to the Hurricanes

AMERICUS, GA – The Embry-Riddle men's soccer team kicked off the 2025 season with a trip to Hurricane Field. After a 4-8-3 record last season, the Eagles were hoping to start the new season off on a strong foot.

The Blue and Gold brought the pressure early on with Riley Aldana taking the first shot on goal in the 21st minute. However, he was denied by the Hurricanes' keeper Noah Kasin.

Kasin is a sophomore at Georgia Southwestern coming off a stellar freshman season. The Jacksonville, FL native made 13 starts in his freshman season and recorded a 1.33 goals-against average.

The Hurricanes responded quickly to Aldana's shot with a scoring opportunity of their own, but came up empty.

Heading into the second period the Hurricanes came ready to strike. GSW fired off nine shots in the second period, with Cesar Rubio-Amaya finding the back of the net to break open the scoreboard.

Goaltender Marcos da Silva flexed his defensive skills with four saves in the second period, keeping the Eagles within one.

The Blue and Gold continued to battle till the final minute but were unable to respond to the Hurricanes' lone goal.

Kasin was credited with the shutout as the Hurricanes tied the series 2-2-1.

The Eagles will return to the pitch on Tuesday, Sept. 9 as they take on the Flagler Saints at Saints Field. Kick off is set for 6PM EST.
