Women's Soccer Secures Second Straight Road Win With 3-1 Victory Versus USC Beaufort

BLUFFTON, S.C. — Embry-Riddle (7-4-4, 2-4-2) maintained their undefeated record in non-conference games on Wednesday afternoon as they defeated USC Beaufort (6-8-2, 2-5-2) 3-1. The Eagles put together one of their most dominant attacking displays of the season as they finished the game with 15 shots, nine on goal, and a season-high three goals. The nine shots on target were tied for the second most in a game this season by ERAU, while the 15 total shots rank as the third most this campaign.

First Half
Both teams got off to a flying start with each side scoring within the opening 15 minutes. It was Lisa Elowsson who dictated the game early on, hitting the crossbar with the first shot of the game at 4:07 and then having two more shots on target at 8:42 and 11:27. Off of the rebound of Elowsson's shot in the ninth minute, Ebba Fjorskaer scored her team-leading sixth goal to make it 1-0. Less than five minutes later, Gabriela Colon picked out the top corner to bring the game back level at one apiece. The game started to slow down a bit after the first quarter of an hour, with each team recording one shot on target in the final 30 minutes of the half.

Second Half
The pace picked back up to begin the second half as ERAU waited just 34 seconds for their first shot when Anna Marisa Lara put her effort over the crossbar. Anna Hansson was the next Eagle who came close to scoring when her shot at 55:49 was blocked, just 16 seconds after she had entered the game. Two minutes after the initial effort, Hansson then was denied by the post, the second time the Blue and Gold had hit the woodwork. Head Coach Liam McIlhatton continued to find success from his bench when Berglind Thrastardottir scored the eventual game-winning goal at 68:50 after coming into the game less than two minutes prior. Elowsson was finally rewarded for her efforts in the 82nd minute as she bagged an insurance goal for ERAU on her fifth shot of the afternoon and fourth shot on goal, following an assist by Lara. Three second half saves from Stella Roane were able to secure the second consecutive road win for the Eagles.
