Women's Soccer Season Comes to Heartbreaking End In Double Overtime Loss to Florida Tech

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Embry-Riddle (9-5-4, 4-4-2) had its 2026 season come to a heartbreaking end on Tuesday evening as they fell 3-2 to Florida Tech (13-1-5, 6-1-3) in double overtime of the SSC Quarterfinals. The Eagles got off to a great start as Calli Berrang opened the scoring in the 16th minute off a corner kick, with ERAU taking that one-goal lead into halftime. The second half saw the pace of the game increase dramatically as there were three goals scored between the two teams in the first 12 minutes of the half, tying the game at 2-2. After 90 minutes, the teams remained even at two goals apiece, setting us up for a 20-minute golden-goal overtime period. Each team had one shot in overtime, but it was Alice Mottershead who scored in the 102nd minute to end the game and send the No. 3 seed, Florida Tech, into the semifinals.

First Half
The Blue and Gold had the first chance of the game in the 12th minute when Lisa Elowsson tried to volley home a cross, however her effort went narrowly above the crossbar. Florida Tech quickly attacked after Elowsson's effort with Eboni Bradshaw having her shot saved by Stella Roane and the Panthers failing to score on the rebound. They were made to pay for their mistake when Calli Berrang scored her second goal of the season at 15:53 off of a corner kick from Agnes Vigholm. Berrang continued her fantastic game with another shot on goal at 33:59 which was saved by Kaitlin Sinkler. ERAU finished the half with a 5-3 advantage in shots, putting three shots on goal to just one from the Panthers, along with Embry-Riddle earning all five corner kicks in the half.

Second Half
The Panthers were able to establish more control in the second 45 minutes, holding a 10-3 shot advantage in the second half and put eight attempts on goal, while Roane made six saves for ERAU. Eboni Bradshaw was able to quickly pull the Panthers level as she finished a cross from Nina Santiago just 49 seconds into the half. Alice Mottershead forced two more saves from Roane inside of the first five minutes of the half, before Berglind Thrastardottir restored the Blue and Gold's advantage at 55:29. The Hafnarfjordur, Iceland native went on a 30-yard run down the left wing creating enough space to bury her shot past Sinkler at the far post. However, it was Bradshaw who had yet another quick answer, this time scoring 51 seconds after Thrastardottir's goal. There was a quick flurry of shots from 65:19 to 67:29 which saw Bradshaw, Berrang, and Ebba Fjordsaker each have their shots saved to keep the game level. Another pair of saves from Roane in the final 10 minutes of regulation were enough to push the game to overtime.

Overtime
With sudden-death upon us for overtime, Franziska Libske tried to end the game as quick as possible, seeing her shot at 90:23, which had beaten Sinkler, roll just inches wide of the post. Both teams struggled to get control in the overtime period, with the only other shot coming from Mottershead at 101:27, which ended the game. Mottershead had space open up outside of the 18-yard box and curled a left-footed shot off of the underside of the crossbar and into the bottom corner, giving Florida Tech a 3-2 win and advancing to Thursday's semifinal versus Nova Southeastern.
