HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter
  • Palm Beach Atlantic grabbed three rebounds in the first minute of the game, using that to build an early 4-0 lead, but they would not get another rebound until the second quarter.
  • The Eagles worked to slowly chip away at the lead, taking an 8-7 lead at the 6:44 mark after a tip-in from Laurie Satchell. The Blue and Gold outrebounded the Sailfish, 13-3 in the first quarter.
  • The freshman duo of Jareah Branch and Eliana Sheplee would take over towards the end of the period, combining for 13 of the team's next 15 points. Sheplee finished with eight points after playing all 10 minutes of the quarter.
  • A pair of free throws in the final seconds from Alyssa Brasko put ERAU ahead 25-22 heading into the second quarter, after the team shot 11-for-19 (.571) from the field in the opening period.
Second Quarter
  • The Sailfish would answer by starting the quarter on a 9-0 run in the first 3:30 of the period, leading it 31-25 after five points from Anabel Ellison.
  • Sheplee would end the drought off of a tip-in, making the score 31-28 with five minutes to go until halftime. The redshirt freshman had 14 points, four rebounds, and a pair of steals by the end of the half.
  • Kailey Turpening hit the Eagles' first three of the game late in the quarter, sending the teams to the break tied at 37.
Third Quarter
  • It would continue to be a defensive battle after the break, with the two teams combining for 55 points between the second and third quarter, after 47 points were scored in the first period alone.
  • Satchell would get the half started with back-to-back buckets, giving ERAU a 41-37 lead. The Blue and Gold had four different players combine for the next four made field goals in the quarter.
  • Sheplee answered a three from PBA with a quick layup followed by another second-chance bucket from Branch, putting Embry-Riddle up 45-42 with 6:44 left.
  • Anye' Staton and Darria Whitley traded baskets in the following minutes, keeping ERAU's lead at three points late into the quarter.
  • The last five points of the quarter came from the free throw line for the Sailfish, tying the game at 51 as we headed to the final quarter of action.
Fourth Quarter
  • Turpening hit her second three of the game to begin the fourth, along with a pair of layups from Lengemann. The 7-0 run by ERAU in the first 90 seconds would force a quick timeout from the Sailfish.
  • PBA would respond by scoring on each of their next three possessions, but the Eagles would never let them come back to tie or take the lead for the remainder of the game.
  • Embry-Riddle's starters would combine for 20 of the team's 22 points in the quarter. A layup from Satchell made the game 62-57 with 6:02 remaining.
  • Bianca Negreiros connected on her first field goal of the game to put the Blue and Gold up by three after the Sailfish had cut the deficit to just one point in the final five minutes.
  • Satchell sealed the game with a pair of made free throws in the final minute that put ERAU ahead 72-67. PBA would try to extend the game by sending the Eagles to the free throw line but the Eagles made the free throw to ice the game.
  • Embry-Riddle made five of their last seven shots from the field, while limiting the Sailfish to only one make on their last 10 shots.
