Embry-Riddle Dominates in 12-4 Victory over Barry

Eagles pick up conference win over Barry

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla – Embry-Riddle dominated in a 12-4 victory over Barry this afternoon to secure game one of the series. The Eagles battled through the stormy weather in an exhilarating defeat of the Buccaneers to take game one of the conference matchup.

1st Inning:

  • Drew Clymer kicked in a double to score Corn off first and put Embry-Riddle on the scoreboard
2nd Inning:
  • Barry's Blake Opie doubled to left center field to put the tying run in scoring position
  • Anthony Tralongo followed up with a double of his own to score Opie off second and tie the game 1-1
  • In the bottom of the inning, Acevedo drew a leadoff walk to put the go-ahead run on first
  • Foley knocked in a triple down the right field line to score Acevedo off first and regain the lead for the Eagles
  • Max McClusky singled past the third baseman to put two runners on base
  • Francisco Feliciano reached first on a fielder's choice to get McClusky out at second while Foley came around to score the third run for Embry-Riddle
  • Feliciano then stole second to put the fourth run in scoring position
  • Cole Bullen singled to right-center field to score Feliciano off second and give Embry-Riddle a 4-1 lead
4th Inning:
  • McClusky hit a leadoff single to reach first
  • Feliciano reached first via a hit-by-pitch to put two runners on base
  • Aiden Schmidt recorded a sacrifice bunt to advance the runners
  • McClusky came into score the fifth run for the Eagles on a wild pitch that also advanced Feliciano to third
  • Feliciano then came in to score the sixth run for Embry-Riddle off another wild pitch
5th Inning:
  • Barry's Dyson Joseph tripled to left-center field
  • Joseph came around to score the second run for Barry off a single from Zavier Hatfield
  • In the bottom of the inning, Acevedo led things off with a triple to right-field
  • Foley scored Acevedo off third with a double to left-center
  • Foley advanced to third off a fly-out
  • Schmidt kicked in a double to score Foley off third and improve the Eagles' lead to 8-2
7th Inning:
  • Barry's Erik Blair drew a walk to reach first
  • Opie drew a walk as well to put two runners on base for the Buccaneers
  • Both Blair and Opie advanced a base on a wild pitch
  • Tralongo recorded a sac-fly to center field to score Blair off third and advance Opie
  • Joshua Hungler singled to left-field to score Opie and cut Embry-Riddle's lead down to four runs
  • In the bottom of the inning, Foley drew a leadoff walk to put an insurance run at first
  • McClusky singled to right-field to put two runners on base 
  • Feliciano laid down a sac-bunt to advance Foley and McClusky to third and second respectively
  • Schmidt drew a walk to load the bases
  • Bullen hit a sac-fly to center to score Foley off third
  • Corn drew a walk to load the bases once again 
  • Clymer singled past the second baseman to score Schmidt and McClusky and advance Corn to third base
  • Corn came in to score the 12th run for the Eagles on a balk from the pitcher
