ERAU Softball Picks Up 3-1 Win Against Lynn in Series Opener

iDAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Embry-Riddle softball welcomed Lynn to Daytona Beach on Friday night for the first game of the weekend series against the Fighting Knights.

The Eagles fell behind early but answered midway through to hold on for the 3-1 win to start the weekend.

  • Embry-Riddle has won 16-straight against Lynn, posting a 28-4 overall record.
HOW IT HAPPENED
2nd Inning:
  • Lynn struck first in the second inning, leading with a triple followed by an RBI bunt single.
  • The Fighting Knights closed the inning with two left on base.
  • Embry-Riddle struck out in the first two at-bats of the frame before a single from Vanessa Gilbert and a fielding error placed two runners on.
  • Unfortunately, a fielder's choice to second base closed the inning in favor of Lynn.
3rd Inning:
  • A leadoff walk from Sierra Lipton followed by a bunt single from Leah Oberkehr started the offensive action for the Eagles.
  • A wild pitch advanced runners before an RBI single from Kendall Wilkie plated two runners for the 2-1 edge.
4th Inning:
  • ERAU added a third run in the fourth, led by a single from Gilbert and an RBI single from Addison Orr.
INSIDE THE STATS
  • Both teams notched five hits apiece.
  • Gilbert went 2-for-3 with a run scored while Wilkie went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
  • Wilkie is now at 22 RBI on the season, four ahead of Emma Wood with 18.
  • Shelby Morse pitched a complete game, giving up one earned run on five hits, one walk, and two strikeouts for her ninth win of the season.
