Men's Soccer Defeats #22 Florida Tech in Kármán Clash

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — In the latest edition of the Kármán Clash, Embry-Riddle (6-1-2, 2-1-1) defeated No. 22 Florida Tech (5-2-2, 3-1-1) 1-0 on Wednesday at Embry-Riddle Soccer Stadium.

The Eagles continue to find success this season, notching their second ranked win of the season. Previously beating then No. 1 Rollins on the road, and now picking up three points against No. 22 Florida Tech. This victory also marks an end to the Eagles drought against the Panthers as it is their first since October 2015 against FT.

A scoreless first half for both sides was defined by stout defense that kept most of the play contained to the midfield. At 63:07 the Panthers' Francesco Micheli was denied the opening goal due to a goal-line clearance from Louis Dolcini. Just a few minutes later, it was Chris Kin who found the back of the net from a Louis Thompson pass which led to what became the game-winning goal. The Eagles protected their one-goal lead through a stretch from 73:07 to 80:39 in which Florida Tech had four shots without scoring. Florida Tech finished with an 11-4 edge in shots, but the Blue and Gold put three of their four shots on goal and recorded their second shutout of the season.

First Half
- Florida Tech earned an early corner kick at 2:14 before Mattia Motzo put ERAU's first shot on frame, forcing a save by Elias Ronning Orn at 16:01.
- Marcos da Silva kept Florida Tech off the board with saves on Daniele Aracri at 19:45 and Marius Brandmayr at 33:54.
- The tight battle between the two teams led to just three total shots in the half. Joseph Ben-Ezra nearly found the opening goal in the final five minutes but a last ditch slide tackle prevented him from taking a shot.

Second Half
- Florida Tech created the first meaningful second-half pressure, taking four shots from 56:17 to 64:33, with the Blue and Gold keeping their clean sheet intact after Dolcini's goal-line clearance and da Silva adding a save.
- Embry-Riddle broke through at 65:44 when Chris Kin scored off of a low cross from Louis Thompson, putting the Eagles ahead 1-0. Thompson registered his first assist of the season on ERAU's goal.
- Florida Tech pushed again after the goal with a corner kick and three shots from 73:07 to 80:39, but da Silva saved the final attempt to preserve the 1-0 lead.
- Elliot Mills put a shot on frame in the 86th minute, and the Blue and Gold held on through two late Florida Tech shots to finish off the 1-0 win.
